This is a wonderful life-like early 20th century Cortendorf German Boxer puppy figurine. It is rare to find a piece with the ‘Germany’ stamp which pre-dates the company’s use of the ‘West Germany’ backstamp.  There are also remnants of the company’s black & silver sticker.  Dimensions:  12cm H x 13cm L

Cortendorf Porcelain Factory which was founded by Julius Griesbach operated from 1890 to 1973, when it was taken over by W. Goebel.  The German Boxer was bred from the Old English Bulldog & the now extinct Bullenbeisser.

  • there is a small nibble to the finish on the front of the tip of the right ear;
  • there is age related crazing present which adds to its charm; and
