This highly collectable Dickens Ware fine earthenware plate D2973 was produced in 1908 & features the Sairey Gamp (Coach York to London design).
It has the special Dickens Ware backstamp & is in excellent condition. Diameter: 21.5cm diameter
Sairey Gamp also known as Mrs Gamp is a nurse from Martin Chuzzlewit & the English umbrella “The Gamp” was named after her, as she always carried one.
Notes on condition:
- the plate is in the condition as received & hasn’t been cleaned; it will be up to the purchaser to undertake if they wish to;
- stilt marks from firing are present on the back; and
