This delightful trio with gold gilt & raised enamel detailing in the 20645 pattern is by George Jones & Sons.

Dimensions:  Cup:  5.5cm H x 10cm across rim.    Saucer: 13.5cm diameter   Plate:  12.5cm diameter

George Jones started production of china at the Trent Potteries in 1872.  His sons joined the business in 1873 & it became known as George Jones & Sons; at that time ‘Crescent’ was registered as the trademark for the new company.  Use of the Crescent China trade name ceased around 1951 & the Crescent works were demolished in 1959.   • the plate has an indentation to the left of the backstamp, which appears to be a production/firing mark, rather than a chip (see 3rd photo);
  • the cup has purple mark which is the same colour as the backstamp & appears to have occurred during firing (see last photo); and
